The gardens title “A Westmorland Bee Keeper’s Garden” reflects the theme of the dry stone walls that surround the space. These walls contain Bee Boles or recesses n which old straw bee hives, or skeps as they are traditionally known, can be kept in an effort to shelter them from the damp Lakeland weather.
